I bought a used SP Ion Paintball gun with asa on/off and a clamp feedneck for a 100 bucks. I can say i Got a good deal. Also came with a all- american barrel. Alot of people speak badly of Ions and so far I played a whole day with it. Went through around 2500 paintballs and it works great. Most of the time I was ramping. I am gonna throw a virtue board, virtue laser eyes, skeleton bolt, and a qev kit in it.

Question one. Why do people speak so badly of it?

Question two. Will it be good with all the upgrades mentioned?

Answer only if you know what youre talking about. I dont need a rich kid telling me to buy a dm8

  1. I have an ION that I bough used as a back up.  They are great markers.    I recommend them to all players.   The new SE is perfect for beginners.  Out of the box they have a max fire rate of 17 bps on semi and 10 bps on full auto.  The biggest complaint is they are a bit harder to work on.  The new SE fixed that.  I have upgraded mine with the QEV, a Fire Bolt and a Tadawo board.  I also added a body kit, a clamping feed neck and a new sling trigger (this was a big improvement for walking the trigger).  Then I changed out the breach so I can use Autococker barrels.  My marker now has a max auto and semi rate of 26bps.  If I have it on Rebound mode, I can reach that max by walking the trigger.

My back up marker is an Invert Mini.  This was my main before getting the ION upgraded.  Now, my ION out preforms the stock mini hands down.  I have sense up graded my mini as well.  I still prefer the ION.

On the ION, the body kit and the Virtue eyes are of no value for performance, they are just for looks.

As for question one.  It’s human nature.  No mater what marker you are looking at someone will tell you how bad it is.  They want to talk up the one they use.  By putting down other markers, they make themselves feel better about their choice.  Others simply had a bad experience with it and they believe that everyone else will have the same issues.  Then you have the flavor of the month crowd.  They change their mind on what marker they like or are going to dis, depending on the way the wend blows.  You also have the brand fans.  They will putdown any brand that is not the one they like.  Finally you get the people that have never touched the marker that are willing to share their opinion.

Some where in that, you will get a few that can give you real information on it.

If you like your ION, then what others say should have no affect on you.
