What essential oil do you think could replace carrot-seed essential oil, or what essential oil has properties close to it. Peppermint, tea tree, lavender..? Thanks. :)

  1. Carrot seed essential oil does not come from the typical tabletop carrots we are accustomed to. It is from the seed of Queen Anne's Lace (Wild carrot) and is a close cousin of orange Carrots we munch on.  It is earthy, woody, warm. It does not resemble the smell of carrots and is considered harsh or unpleasant by some.  Possible Uses: Eczema, gout, mature skin, toxin build-up, water retention.

Diluted in a carrier oil such as kukui nut or rosehip seed it makes a wonderful facial oil for mature and weathered skin. It is beneficial in facial washes, after-shaves and cleansing lotions for problem skin. An all around "skin" oil it improves tone and appears to have moisturizing properties. Mildly stimulating it is reputed to have a healthful effect on the liver. An interesting addition to a diffuser or personal aroma.

Great with citrus and evergreen type oils, Frankincense, Lavender, Rosewood, Blue Cypress, Geranium etc.

Safety Data: Possible photosensitivity. Potential skin irritant on sensitive skin - always dilute. Not for use while pregnant or nursing.

It does not have the same properties as peppermint, tea tree or lavender.  I would suggest using Clary Sage as this EO is great for skin also!

  2. Bulgarian Rose essential oil is a great skin cell rejuvenator like Carrot Seed oil. But much more expensive. And to some ..it's well worth it.

Lavender is always great and sometimes overlooked because we see so much of it out there. But honestly if I could only have 1 essential oil in my cabinet it would be lavender because of all of the healing properties it has: anti microbial, wound/scar healing and anti inflammatory to name just a few.
