My first option would be to fly jets/helis for the navy. But (im only 16) if i didnt get into a college with NROTC, i might go to one with army ROTC. I wanna be an officer and fly helis for the army as a second choice. I wanna go to college and become a commissioned officer. But i heard that Com.OFF. arent likely to be pilots because of Warrant officers. Is this true?

  1. well warrant officer is better anyway..but not true.the officers do fly but have additional duties. the warrants do all the work and get all the women

  2. I used to be stationed at Eielson AFB in Alaska a little over 10 years ago. We used Army helicopters out of Ft. Wainwright to get to some of our remote sites. All the people flying them that we dealt with were Warrant Officers. They were prior enlisted personnel that used to repair the helicopters. The Army had a program for the enlisted maintainers  to go in to that would cross train them from mechanic to WO pilots. The main problem with being a WO is you are no longer an enlisted person and are snubbed by regular commisioned officers.

  3. ya, i don't know about the navy but ive done a lot of research on the WOFT (Warrent Officer Flight Traning) program and talked with recruiters, and warrent officers eat sleep breathe and ultimately live in their respected aircrafts, that is their sole purpose in the military is to know the vehicle which they specilize in inside and out...and they are usually chosen first for missions and fly all the time... so if your lookin for that route good luck cause its tough but very rewarding

but also look into the navy, and good luck
