Question about bicycle brakes?

on my brakes there are two bars that go behind this notch on the calipers that keep the brakes open. When they are knocked out of place, the brake pushes against the rim of the tire. What is this bar called?

I looked at the brakes on my bike .You have the

calipers and the brake pads and the bars that you are talking

about i believe are actually the brake spring.

if you have v-brakes it's a spring.
