  1. Standard = manual (just old terminology)

Automatic are easier because ... they are automatic.

With manual the driver have to be constantly shift gears as the car speed changes.

    Good luck...

  2. Automatics are easier for the basic driver, it's become the more common in car sales. a Standard is the same as manual or Stick.

In a manual you have 3 pedals as apposed to the standard 2 (Gas and Brake )in a Automatic. In a manual the Far left is occupied with its 3 pedal which is called a Clutch, the purpose of the clutch is what disengages and engages the flywheel from the pressure plate. which helps drive the car's transmission. (trying to keep it as simple as possible)

Long story short if your looking for a point A to B vehicle then a automatic is your best bet. the choice on which one fit your life style is your's Manual requires more attention. I hope this helps..it's hard to get technical with someone who's not really car savvy. But good luck

  3. automatic manual and standard refer to the transmission.

an automatic will shift based upon the engine rpm and speed.  it will do this autmatically, hence the name.  no operator clutch is required

a standard or manual requires the operator to disengage the engine from the transmission via a clutch pedal and then shift the transmission to a higher or lower gear based upon the engine rpm and vehicle speed.  once the gear is engaged, the clutch is released, again allowing the engine power to be transmitted to the transmission.  this allows the car to accellerate or slow don as required.

in your case, i would go automatic.  it is easier.

  4. Standard and Manual are the same thing. Manual transmissions mean you personally shift the gears. You use a stick column and have to manually shift into 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th and R (reverse). Each time you must hold in the clutch in order to shift different gears. Instead of Automatic transmissions which usually only have gas and brake, manual transmissions have clutch, brake, and gas.

Automatic transmissions do this for you, no effort on your part. Automatic transmissions are laid out in Park (P), Reverse (R), Neutral(N), Drive (D) and you might have Drive3 (usually for towing and unfavorable weather conditions) and Drive2 and L. The choice is yours whether you get manual or automatic. Automatic is easier in a sense that you don't have to manually shift each gear. Some folks would never have an automatic, they like the feel of control of the vehicle. It is all preference. I hope I have helped some. Please, if anyone can help this person out more, thank you. This is all I could think of.
