Question:

Question about cooking enchalada's....?

I am making ground beef enchaladas. I browned the meat, dipped each tortilla in sauce and rolled them up and put cheese.

All I need to know is how long to cook it and what temperature to cook it at???? The meat is already cooked...

I did not put anything else in it (cause of my picky family). Its just meat, tortillas, cheese and sauce.

Thank you!

  1. if u cooked the tortilla 1st.. then put the oven @ 400 & heat long enough to get the cheese on top melted...by the way its enchiladas

  2. 350 degrees (F) for 20 minutes.  But no green chiles?  No onions?  You might need to upgrade this recipe!

  3. doesn't matter too much since you've already coooked the meat.  I'd suggest 375 for about 15 minutes to melt the cheese and let the flavors blend together

  4. just at about 180c for 10 minutes or untill the cheese ontop is how u like it :)

  5. Long enough to melt the cheese nicely... not too long or your tortillas will dry out.

  6. It's always a pretty safe bet to cook at 350 - 450 and watch the edges, as they should darken some.  I would normally bake it for 30-45 mins; as you want it to heat all the way through and the cheese to melt really well.  This kind of dish, the tortillas soak up the flavor.

Just like lasagna as well; the noodles soak up the sauce and spices when cooked for longer periods; that's why this dish takes so long at a restaurant.
