does end of anubis negate honests effect?

discarding honest is a cost to activate it, therefore it must activate in the graveyard (at least as far as i understand it) so would it be negated if end of anubis is on the field?

No it doesn't since Honest's affect activates in the hand, not in the graveyard. This is because it has to be in the hand first before you can utilise his affect.

So you can discard for the battling monster to gain attack.
