Question about poisonous frogs?

ok so i know that some frogs sre poisonous..... my question is how does its poison work? is it only if you eat it or it gets in contact with wound or does it react just by touching it?

and does the frog some how deliver it when it feels treatened or is it in the frogs skin?

  1. From the skin of the frogs ....mainly coated with a slimy stuff around the body

  3. Many frogs produce skin secretions of varying toxicity. In Australia, the most toxic frog is the introduced cane toad (Bufo marinus). The toad's back is covered with glands that secrete poison, with a big gland (the parotid) behind each eye. The toad's skin is covered in poison at all times, but if the toad is attacked it will start producing more poison.

    The poison can cause severe damage if it's ingested (e.g., you eat or l**k a toad). It can also cause eye damage if it gets into your eyes.
