Question about pwnage tool for mac?

to i pwned my ipod touch, and i got cydia and installer, which one do i use, or do i use both???? because when i jailbreaked when i was on 1.1.4 and i had cydia and installer my ipod got corrupted.

Do u still have 1.1.4?or do u have 2.0 or higher firmware now? When I had them both on 1.1.4 I didn't get corrupted they worked fine together so it dhud be good maybe it justwent stupid that one time
