Question:

Question about running shoes.....

I am trying to find the best running shoe for myself. I have narrowed choices down to the Brooks Ghost and Mizuno Wave Creation. I am also open to Asics. I have a high arch (not sure if I pronate). It will be a shoe for running on pavement no more than 2 miles a day. I don't want to spend more than $100. Do you have any other recommendations for a specific shoe or any advice on choosing a shoe? Any opinions are welcome and appreciated. I can provide additional details if necessary. Thank you.

  1. My sister is a runner too and she has high arches.  She found this site that really gave her some expert advice.   http://www.therunningadvisor.com/running...

Once she knew what to look for, her choice was easy.  They have tons of other great information too.

  2. For $100 you could some really good shoes. It's important to know if you pronate or not in order to recommend the best shoe for you. Your weight is necessary also because if you weigh over about 170 you may need a shoe with more cushioning. Brooks, Saucony, Asics are all good shoes, but all anyone could do is recommend you try different shoes on and it would be up to you to make the final decision on which is best. For me personally, I didn't like Mizuno's because they were too stiff. I tried Nike Air Zoom Vomeros and they were too squishy. I'm running in the Saucony Trigon 5's right now. Never had a blister. They are nice a snug around the heal area, and the toe box is nice a roomy. It's the best shoe I've tried.

The reason it's necessary to know if you under or over pronate is because that will help determine if you need a stability, motion control, or neutral shoe.

If you have a road runner sports near you, I would check them out. The do a computer/video analysis of your feet and running gait to make sure you get the right shoes. Plus you get a 60 day time frame to exchange the shoes for something else.

Take a look at the site and read the reviews on all the shoes. Might be helpful for you.
