Question about the 3rd Eye?

It is possible to open a 3rd eye through meditation, right. But how are you going to close the 3rd eye if you don't want to experience parapsychological phenomena with spiritual encounters? Once, the 3rd eye is open can't you close it?

You can close it by diverting your attention to anything else. It's a lot easier to close it than to open it.

I have only seen the third eye referenced in a figurative manner.  In other words, it isn't actually opened, it just means you have made yourself more aware.

If you disagree I would be happy to consider any evidence or reason you have for believing otherwise.

Yes meditation will help to open your third eye.

And yes, with meditation and diversion you can close your third eye as well.

(rubbing on the spot making clockwise and counterclockwise circles also helps to speed up the process)

My question to you is this: Why would  you want to close it after you go through the work of opening it?

Is it that you are concerned about what you are going to see and that it could be creepy or scary?

To that I honestly tell  you that you will see many interesting and beautiful things that you would not have dreamed possible. -its not all scariness and darkness.

The only other piece of advice I can give you is to have trust in yourself that you can deal with whatever you happen to see.

Yes the Third Eye (Ajna Chakra) can be closed. All you need to do is ignore it and not use it.

By opening your Third Eye, you are opening your consciousness to higher states of being. Thus, you are allowing information from other dimensions and different planes of existence to enter into your field of thought (consciousness). To discontinue experiencing from receiving this type of information, all you need to do is become ignorant to it and just say aloud to yourself "I am materialistic - the only information I can receive is through my five senses that experience the physical world."

Of course you can. It's a chakra. Imagine it as a lotus flower... you see the flower opening when the 3rd eye opens, and you really should make sure you go back and close it again when you're done.

There is always the risk that when you open up you can't shut down. It does not happen often though. There are various ways of shutting down chakra's but I don't feel like sharing them here. If you can't do it yourself you can probably find someone to shut it down for you.
