Question:

Question about transportation to work?

There's a job I want that's about 35miles away from my apt. I have no car, and I'm gonna have to rely on someone to drive me though I really don't want to. Buses don't run here and a taxi would cost $115 one way. I have a bike, but to bike 70 miles a day 5 days a week, is that even doable? Are there any other suggestions?

  1. Do you have someone who is willing to drive you that much each way? (They will probably have to make two trips each day) Is the job really worth it to you? Can you find an apartment thats closer?

  2. Keep looking for apt closer. And only when you have hired.

  3. If your friend gets the job as well, then I see nothing wrong with sharing rides.  You can split the cost of gas.  In fact, you should do that even if you both drove.

If your friend doesn't get the job, then either get a new apartment closer by, or reject the job, depending on how much you want it.

  4. Yes I agree the taxie is to much like 1.80 plus 30 cents every 30 seconds that sucks like going local in my city can easily cost 10 bucks.

Reading your bike the whole way would probably make your legs hurt.

I my only suggestion can be to take a train to work and read your bike the rest of the way.

  5. I HOPE THAT YOU AND YOUR FRIEND GET THE JOB THEN YOU CAN SPLIT THE COST FOR FUEL.

IF NOT FROM EVERYTHING THAT YOU SAID THE BIKE WOULD BE YOUR ONLY WAY BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO JUMP A FREIGHT TRAIN AND TAKE THE CHANCE OF GETTING HURT OR WORSE.

    GOOD LUCK WITH ALL.
