  1. you have to work really hard until you get callises (i'm not sure how you spell it) on your feet. then you will be able to turn easier. but don't worry i have the same problem.

  2. The first answer is right.  After a long time of dancing you develop calluses which make your feet nearly invincible!

Some other reasons it becomes easier to pirouette on the floor without shoes:

    - If my feet get too sticky or sweaty during a performance, I'll sprinkle some baby powder on my foot so they don't stick on the floor.

    - Most dancers have enough power in their bodies & technique (using their center, pushing off the floor, spotting, etc) that they don't have to worry about their feet sticking; their feet just go where the body tells them to.

    - Dancers walk around withouit shoes on very often.  Therefore our feet get dirty,  The more dirt on our foot the easier it is to glide, turn, etc.  I know it sounds bad, but we do!

    Hope this helps!
