Question on air conditioners on cars

okay i have a couple questions on air conditioners in cars.

#1. if i turn the temperature to cold but leave the air conditioner OFF, does this use more gas?

#2. if i have the temperature cold, air con ON, and i set the fan to a low level, will i use up less gas then if i were to turn the fan on high, or is it the same?

Unfortunately there is no happy medium its either on or off, off you will use 15 per cent less fuel as a rule, depends on the size of the vehicle
