Questions about Marijuana

I have a friend and she told me this wild story tonight and I just have to know if legally what was done to her girlfriend was normal. She posted a add on craigslist maybe a year ago looking for a friend named Mary Jane (as if that's not obvious pfft) and she was contacted by a man offering to hook her up in exchange for used under ware and the women said no but continued to talk to him on and off over the next year. He randomly would IM her and offer to get her some weed, this time for plain money, etc. She said no every time. Then her cousin was flying in to visit her and during on of her chats with the same guy (a year later) she asks if he could get her some. He says that he can but she will have to take a hit of the pipe first so he knows she isnt a police officer. Apparently against advice she agrees, has him meet her the next day. He pulls out his pipe, HE TAKES A HIT and she takes a hit of the marijuana and then she buys about a half oz from him. Next thing she knows as she leaves she is being arrested for buying off a undercover police officer and for apparently doing marijuana in a public place. She and her brother (who was there but made no contact with the money or the product) both insist he smoked it as well (as it was his idea and she has the IM logs to prove it was his idea and would be done) Now to my question, is it legal for a under cover police officer to IM a person over a years period and repeatedly offer to get her some weed, then once finally granted, be allowed to smoke an illegal substance to gain her trust? I always thought police go after dealers, not small amount buyers? Anyone ever heard anything like this before?

  1. it can be called entrapment if your stories true and you can prove it was the same guy

  2. No,I never met anyone that stupid, but since it was done over a computer,I'm sure there are all kind of special circumstances. Is it possible, yes. Can you say the cop took a hit,you can all you want,it wont change a fact,in court its considered simulation.
