I am new at this whole renting a place thing and I was wondering,

If I found a townhouse and it said $1500 utilities does that mean that rent and utilities together equals 1500 or does it mean that the rent is 1500 and then utilities still has to be added on to that total?

  1. My guess is that the utilities would be extra since it would be impossible to know ahead of time what the bills would be.  If you have never had utility accounts before now, expect there to also be a hefty deposit added to your first bills.

  2. most likely it will mean plus utilities because they will vary so much from person to person you might get trash service included but normally that's the only utility given to you in renting and they just add that to your monthly rent anyway so you are already paying for it just under the landlord name.
