Questions about vacationing in Mexico?

My husband, our 2 boys (12 and 10) and I are going to Playa Del Carmen next month. We are staying at Viva Wyndham Maya. Ever stayed there? We're only staying for 3 nights....any recommendations on must go excursions? Or will we have plenty to do at the resort? Its an all inclusive. Do resorts have good water or should we only drink bottled? Also, do you have to brush your teeth with bottled water as well? Any other things like that to watch out for? Thanks...this is our first trip to Mexico and just want to play it safe :)

Ive been to all-inclusives in Mexica and elsewhere and I go for a week and find that there is plenty to do at the resort.  Since you are staying 3 nights I definately wouldnt worry about planning excursions, etc.  the resorts are huge and have plenty to entertain you with.  I would only drink bottled water or the water they serve you (which is filtered so dont worry) .  I would use bottled water for brushing your teeth but most of the time I do not and have never had a problem.

Worry about all the crime that is all over mexico its very dangerous.

You guys are americans right /dear be careful.I am spanish and i have been to mexico 5 times scary like h**l this was years ago>Not to much gang activity in that area you are going but still be careful.Do not look like a tourist.Wear long jeans and other t shrits so you dress like the people there wear tennis shoes no flip flops .Put caps no cameras hanging from your neck ok,the same with the boys hon dont dress them brand new stuff them not to nice you dont attarct atention to much.learn spanish very important so you defend yourself.Lady get ready mexican whiste at women you will feel like a goddes haha but it will drive you mad sometimes all depends how they do it and what they say.If they say something you dont like just tell them c****n .that will keep them in place.Its a very sytrong insult great for those ocasions .We spanish people love that word to tell men dont worry use it!! it will insult them bad its strong good defense!!!

you can get land excursions with a tourist company called plaza tours they are great .I dont know if they are still but check.mexican food delicious mmm

Dont give anyone money stupid mexicans think that whoever lives in usa is rich be careful dont let anyone use you>There is a lot of poverty there.watch it dear and have funnn

Most resorts in Mexico have their own water purification system or supply purified water in those big jugs.

Don't worry about having to brush your teeth with bottled water.

Food is great in Mexico.  We travel to Mazatlan on the Pacific coast every year and eat at restaurants where the locals eat.  No problema!

Don't get stinko drunk and wander about all hours of the night.

Be aware of your surroundings and take precautions as you would back home.

But most of all..enjoy your vacation!

Don't worry about all the things the spanish woman said... Mexico is safe for tourists, really, just stay on the touristic areas if it's your first time and you don't speak spanish (altough learning a thing or two might be helpful) Wear whatever you wanna wear, you're a tourist in a touristic area, you'll be just fine! The thing about the cameras and jewlery well, that's just common sense right? The water at the Wyndham is purified so you can drink it, when eating out, go safe drinking botlled water as every mexican does. Have fun!
