Question:

Questions on Contact Lenses?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I just had my free yearly eye doctors appointment and found out my eyes are -4.00 (really bad). Here are some questions I would like to be answered:

Would contact lenses be really bad for my eyes If I was to wear them all the time?

When you go to the eye doctors and get contacts, what do they do? (specificly)

How much will it cost?

Any helpful feedback is welcome TY

  1. Lucky! My eyes are -6.00. I wear Acuvue Oasys contacts right now, I've worn contacts for about five years. Contacts aren't bad for your eyes at all, provided you follow your eye doctor's instructions. It's generally a bad idea to sleep in them, because you don't give your eye time to clean itself out. It dries the contacts out and it makes it -super- uncomfortable for you.

When I went to the eye doctor for the first time to get my contacts, they did a routine eye exam, then put the contacts in, then gave me a second eye exam (not a full one, just "read the smallest line possible while wearing the contacts." Then they took me into a room and removed my contacts for me. They put them in a contact case, and I had to be taught how to put them in. I couldn't leave until I could put the contacts in by myself. ( It took me an hour and 15 minutes, then 5 minutes the next day. If you do get contacts, I suggest opening your eyelid and underneath, to give the contacts more room to stick). After that, I got to keep that pair and one more pair for free. Now I buy my contacts (a year's supply) from 1-800 Contacts, and it's not too expensive, it's about...200 dollars for 12 boxes (6 for each eye, I have the two week contacts). Best of luck to you!!!

  2. It won't be bad, but you do have to let your eyes rest, so take them out before going to bed.

Specifically, the eye doctors show you how to put the contact lens on, and out of your eye.

And then they will let you leave once you put the contact lens

in and out of your eye, by youself

  3. My prescription is similar and I have worn contacts for years.  If you are careful to clean them and pay attention to health of your eyes they are not bad for you.  ask your eye doctor.  They just do an eye exam, measure your eye and recommend a prescription.  They will help you put them in and take them out if it is your first time.
