Questions on Dihydrocodeine?

It's termed an opioid, but its also got anti-tussive effects too I've read and it has been used in some cases strictly as an anti-tussive active in a medicine - how strong are these anti-tussive effects then?

Also, I've read that an anti-histamine taken with dihydrocodeine potentiates its analgesic effects? Which antihistamine would be best to use in this instance with the Dihydrocodeine?

(I'm taking dihydrocodeine/paracetamol tablets)
