-Are platys hardy fish?

-Can I have just female or male in the tank? I don't want to breed.

I will be getting a 14-20 gallon tank.

-What fish would be good with platies?

Thanks for your help!

  1. platies are great fishes to keep, they are pretty hardy and yes you can keep just a male or female alone. but they look better when there is more of them. you can keep other live bearers with them such as mollies, swords and guppies. also any kind of peaceful community tank fish will do well with platies

  2. yes, very.

Females w/o a male will fight. males will too. But I would go w/ the all female tank. males can get very aggressive.

guppies, swordtails, corydora, endler's livebearer, banjo cats, colisa chuna, colisa lalia, paradise fish, tetras (I personally have glowlights), shrimps, kuhli loaches, zebra loaches, hillstream loaches/look it up the names vary and snails.

There are many more, mine are in a tank w/ colisa chuna, guppies, swordtails, aeneus corydora (I like julii cory cats better) glowlight tetra, and ghost shrimp. the tank housed and angel fish and the banjo cats.
