I was wondering what are the pros and cons of online advertisements, specifically on house and lots and if there is a large possibility of a scam.

Hi!! On all forms of advertising the opportunities for scams is vast and all must be looked at carefully.

On your question the housing market through normal retailing channels would be safer against scams, than would the advertising through on line, and this would apply to almost any product, but of course there are safeguards you can apply,if you act with caution, checking out thoroughly first.

In the case of houses and plots check out with the local land registry.
