Quick ammonia question?

what are things with ammonia in it....or else tell my what happens when i add red cabbage to it?

  1. windex, some oven cleaners, chemical supply houses, and barnyard mud, all tend to have ammonia.

    Red cabbage would turn blue or green in any strong base, so ammonia would turn it too. You can turn it back red by putting vinegar on it.

    Other household bases include draino (Warning! Caustic!), baking soda, ashes, etc.

    Other plant-based PH indicators include almost any naturally blue or purple flower or fruit. Even stuff growing out in the yard, if it has a blue flower, you can soak the blue flower in an acid and it'll turn red. Better yet, take the blue flower (or fruit pulp) and rub it into white paper and let it dry. THen when you get it wet with acid, it will turn red. Or once it is red, get it wet with a base (ammonia) an it'll turn blue again.
