  1. I had always wanted to be a driving instructor and like yourself, seen the ads on TV.  So I went along to one of the interview days, only to find out that you have to pay about 2K for the privilege!  They offer you a scheme to pay it up but it's still a h**l of alot of money to start your career.  Be warned.

    Good luck though.

  2. I rang a couple of years ago and you have to pay, then it was £3500, i didn't do it as i didn't have the money.

  3. If you want to train as a driving instructor then you have to pay out thousands for the privelige.

The way the course is there is no guarantee that you will pass.

Firstly, you need to sit your theory and hazard test.  This involves 100 questions and 20 clips for the hazard.  You need to pass the theory as such;  there are 5 categories, you need to pass all 5, you fail one category and say pass all 4 you still fail.

The hazard I can't remember what the pass is, but it is high.

You pass both parts, you can then sit your part 2, driving test. You will need to pass this, you fail with more than 6 minors ( usual L test is allowed 15 minors) and no serious. The driving test is hard.

If you pass the driving then you can either teach L drivers with a school and as a trainee instructor, or go and sit your part 3. This is the hardest part.  Your examiner, is your pupil, once you introduce yourself and he tells you what you are teaching he becomes L driver.  You must teach and show some learning.

WIth red you have to enrol into the instructors college and they are not exactly the cheapest or best to go with.  Try BSM, you go with them then you are already with a driving school and will be able to go straight into work with them.

It is expensive but worth it.

  4. Just want to echo what BSMGUY says and add a teeny bit extra:

The Hazard Perception Test is the same test as the learner's HPT, but the pass mark is 57 out of 75 as opposed to the learner's pass mark of 44 out of 75.

Yeah - I trained with BSM in Birmingham - training was expensive but 1st class - I passed part 1 2nd time, part 2 1st time and part 3 (supposedly the hardest) 1st time!

With adi training you get what you pay for - get saving up and go with BSM for training :)
