REdd Moons?

I was at this race way thingy ma bob;; and I looked at the moon and it was redd and gothic looking...

What does that mean?

You must have been seeing a Lunar eclipse.  

Basically its where the Earth comes between the sun and the moon.  When the Earth reaches a certain position between the sun and moon, the Earth's atmosphere acts like a filter and a prism at the same time.  Basically the atmosphere separates the white light from the sun into all the colors of visible light (like the way water vapor separates day light to make a rainbow).  The colors with the highest frequency (violet) are sent out into space away from the moon while the colors with the lowest frequency (red) is sent towards the moon.  This happens only once every few years or so and nobody can predict what color the moon will turn during the time of a lunar eclipse, however it usually ranges from blood red to an orange-red mix.

must've been in the past few days when it is full or almost full, and just above the horizon.

When it is just above the horizon, you are looking at it through much more of the earth's atmosphere than if it is overhead.  It is the particles (pollution?) in the atmosphere that let more red light through.

It is because of all the forrest fires in the west.  The smoke  high in the atmosphere makes the moon look red and kind of spooky---but pretty at the same time.
