Question:

Race and poverty Ads on Television?

Why don't I ever see white children on those charity TV ads that deal with child poverty? It seems they are always non-white kids from like Africa and Latin America. Don't people know there are children in places like the US (Appalachia) where poverty exists among white people? Why don't they show these as well? What are your thoughts about this.

  1. Whites are statistically more affluent than minorities in the US. There isnt any pity for white people.

  2. Because white people are self-sufficient and evoke less pity than a helpless non-white.

  3. I think it's the relative poverty. Poor people in Appalachia don't starve to death. Poor people in drought-stricken Africa and Asia do die of starvation and disease.

  4. People probably wouldn't help white people.  They are looking for donations after all.
