  1. Always remember.....Dont kiss the trophy girl with tongue, Band-aids on your nipples, Make sure you go to the bathroom before a race, Crashing Sucks.

  2. The best cross training for me is playing hockey. It takes care of cardio and strength, plus I hate going to the gym. Riding a bike, roller blading and swimming are all very good as well.

  3. well I've got my first ever race this weekend and I'm goin to just try to keep hydrated since I don't have time to get back into shape. like said strech and stuff but be shure to not eat a lot of junk food on the way to the race cause that probly isn't the best prep.

  4. Start hydrating yourself two days before and only do a light workout the day before with a heavier workout on the Wednesday before.

But I am sure you probably have it all down pat by now and know just what you are doing with 16 years racing.

    Good luck for your race!

Well if that is the case then just do the training as I have suggested for this week as it is sort of a bit late to do much.  If you intend to race more then just do training sessions on your bike slowly increasing either the laps you do or the time.  Make each session count and as soon as you get tired stop, as riding tired makes you sloppy.  Riders who go out and have a set amount of laps they do or who do not ride neat each time they ride are just teaching themselves to ride that way in a race and their body wants to stop when they usually do.

Stretch well before going out and try not to overgrip with your hands as that causes arm pump.

Work on aerobic fitness when off the bike either skipping rope or running on a treadmill.  Do weights as well

Good luck and I hope you win!

  5. I have been racing for 9 years and I never have trained or done workout routines. I am in shape and never have been sore after racing only tired. I say work on leg strength exercises and carb loading. Eat high carbohydrate foods and some protein foods. Those two things in addition to regular exercise should take care of your cardio and soreness when racing.
