Question:

Racing the 2 mile?

I have a track invitational tomorrow, and I haven't raced in several months (due to some injuries). My best indoor 2 mile is 12:45, and my best in outdoor is about 13:05. I'm seeded at 13:30. I'm really nervous, and there are only 2 girls seeded the same time as me. Could someone help me lap-by-lap how I should try to do this thing? haha

Thanks!

  1. 1st: do NOT go fast. I remember going as fast as i could for competing in the mile and halfway done i got slower. I got fourth in itt and didn't pplace, so do not go as fast as u could. Find a perfect pace for u by practicing today when it cools down, and the at the beginning of the second miile, speed up just a tad and when you only have a half left, go all out. Don't think about anything else; just focus on running and pretend that someone is in front of u  or if someone is in front of u attempt to beat them. That always makes me mad iif someone is in front of me. Just practice and i'm sure you'll do finne. Just don't do as i did and run yoour hardest at the beginning. God, thhat was dumb of me

    Good luck sweetie!

  2. Yes!!! Finally a question about the best race in track! lol.

Ok here is what I do-

My first lap I kind of sit back with the group to feel how everyone is running. See if anyone takes off or anything. then one the second lap I'll take off and try to push the pace, try to break everyone of their kick(cause I have none lol). I'll push until 5th lap, then I'll try to keep a steady to an even faster pace.

This way works for me because I have a lot of endurance. But if you are not like this then you could instead try to sit back a bit longer and make your first mile slower than your second mile. Start to push with 3 laps to go, then the last lap start kicking like there's no tomorrow.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

  3. just remember one thing try not to fall asleep

  4. The best thing you can do is make sure to run your game. The biggest mistake you could make is trying to run one of the other girls run.

First thing you need to do is break the run up into smaller laps. So rather than running 8 laps at once, you are running 3 sets of laps back-to-back. Like run the first 2 laps, and then tell your self 2 more laps, and after that, 2 more laps, and then final two laps. Your brain proccesses it differently, and you will not feel as exhausted as just running 8whole laps.

Run the first 4 laps smart. Run at a good pace, which should be at about 140-145 for you per lap, run the 5th and 6th lap however you are feeling... if you feel like you need to slow it down a little bit, then do that. but if you feel like you can push it a little bit then do that.  Its important that you run as you want to for these two laps. And for the final two laps run them with heart. No matter how tired you are, you push yourself hard the last two laps. Final lap, pick up your pace along the curves and use it to sling shot yourself into the straight away... on the final turn start picking up your pace increasingly during the 100m turn and slingshot yoruself into the third lane on the straight away, doing an all out sprint.

You are a very talented runner, and you shouldn't have any worries.

I wish you the best of luck in your race, and I hope you win.

    Good luck

Hope I helped a little bit

  5. well 2 mile is about 3200 meter.Long way but any way half of 3200 is 1600.Im 13 and i run evrything from 100m to crosscountry and my 1500 was 5:35 and i went slow then fast so pace your self but pick it up half a pace a second more and you'll be fine.Half a step or pace.
