Question:

Raising money for charity?

I want to raise money for charity. And I mean I want to go big.

I'm still planning but I want to be able to go to places like stores and ask them to either A) sponser a big charity run or B) donate money.

How can I get people to donate without them thinking it's a fraud and a scam? I mean I personally would think that a person asking for me to donate money was just trying to get money for themselves.

How can I get people to donate and let them know that I actually am giving the money to charity.

  1. I would start with bake sales, and other basic things along those lines to just get your name out there.  Maybe you could even write an article or two for your local newspaper talking about your charity.  After that, you can expand, and people will know you and trust that you're for real.

  2. Wow! What a noble cause you are doing. You should be very proud of yourself!! Good job my dear. :)

  3. If you are afraid of people thinking you are trying to scam them you want to be able to provide them with literature for the charity the $ is going to.  If you are raising money for the American Cancer Society you can easily get information from them as to what the finds will be going to. ACS is just one example.  Personalize it and be able to talk in depth about where the money you raise is going.
