Question:

Raising my GPA?

i'm going into the 8th grade (it's still middle school for me) & im just now realizing how important your GPA is, and i know mines like 2.70 or something like that- pretty bad. i'm really smart, but i never really applied myself and i didn't turn in a lot of assignments- i totally regret it now, but it's too late.

i want to go to college on the east coast (university of connecticut, NYU, university of pennsylvania, princeton, yale, brown) & as you can see, my standards and hopes are pretty high ahhaa.

i really want to raise my GPA so that i have a chance of getting into these schools (i know that some of them are super hard to get into, but why not try?) & i was wondering how high my GPA should be to get into these schools?

also, would it be possible to raise my GPA from what it is now to a 3.6 or higher in 5 years?

  1. Colleges don't look at your grades from 8th grade, just 9th grade on.  You don't have to 'raise' your GPA, it starts over in 9th grade.  So starting then, and probably now just to get into the habit, stop getting C's and try to get mostly A's.

  2. high school grades are the most important. then its just acing the SATs if you can ace those you can go wherever the h**l you want

  3. Don't worry about it. Colleges don't care what you get in middle school. It's all about the first three years. If you just pay attention and participate in class, do your homework and projects well and on time, and study for tests, you'll have no problem getting a good GPA. It's important to ask if there's something you don't get, because sometimes that can mushroom into a bigger problem. Set goals for yourself, and reward yourself for achieving them. Good luck in high school.
