  1. redundant, but YES they can and you need to keep it cool as the person responsible for its care...

  2. yes!

    give it sum water!!

  3. They can. To keep your rat chilled, try keeping a few pebbles in the freezer then once they're cold, put them in his cage. This will cool the air and he can lie on them if he's really hot. (They will need re-feezing fairly frequently though, so best to keep a few in the freezer and rotate them frequently)

You could also put ice cubes in for example a shallow tray  in the cage, rat can l**k it for nice cold water.

Another thing to consider is where his cage is, make sure it's never in direct sunlight. If there is no choice then keep a damp tea-towel over half the cage, this will cool the air and keep it shady for him.

    Hope this helps.

  4. ye,s the heat can kill your rat. if you don't have a ceiling fan  buy a small on you can plug into the wall. use common sense for how high you put it, but it shouldn't be too high because it'll get too cold. you can also help cool them off a little by running them under lukewarm water, nothing too cold because that'd be a big shock.

i know not every house has AC, so use a fan and make sure the rat is cooler and drinking a lot of water. and please, don't keep it outside and don't keep the cage in the sunlight. good luck

  5. Absolutely.

You need to give your rat something to cool down with.

They sell chin chillers, made for chinchillas. They are basically granite slabs that you keep in the fridge, then put in the cage. You can use those.

Or, if you don't have the money or time, you can fill a tupperware bowl with water or ice, put the lid on & freeze it and put that in the cage.

  6. i have a rat and she feels fine

  7. yes it can, make sure your rat has plenty of cold water, provide it with a swimming pool when u take them out (fill a heavy shallow dish or bowl with cool water, put thawed frozen peas and corn in the bottom and they fish them out (cute to watch) thus getting a cool wash in the process) also you can place a fan near the cage. you can also get those cold/hot packs for injuries you can freeze (or freeze a bottle with water in it or similar), place this in the bottom of the cage and wrap it with a thin towel and they can lay on it if they get too hot, refreeze at night. also put the cage in a cool place on the floor if possible (the lower the better) inside and out of the sun.

  8. YUP!

Give it plenty of water. Put it in a cool place- somewhere in the house. And make sure the room is airconditioned. Dont put it in the sun, and find something to keep the room cool, like a fan? But dont make the room too cold, the rat could die from that too. Good Luck! I hope this helps :D

  9. Yes, rats can easily die of a heatstroke.  Airconditioning is a must -- a rat's environment should stay cooler than 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  Wire cages will also provide better ventilation and help keep your rat cool
