Rathglass Lad – Review of debut season
There have been quite a lot of quality greyhounds trying to earn a name for themselves in the sport this year, but only a few have succeeded at the highest level. One of those talented runners is, Rathglass Lad, who has shown his class to one and all after
making his debut during the ongoing season.
Most of the runners look to participate in events, where they are strong. Some of them have got good speed, so they opt for shorter distance races whereas the ones with solid stamina choose the opposite format.
However, Rathglass Lad has proved that he is a versatile runner and he can take on anyone at the highest level, regardless of the race distance and the conditions. He is a confident performer and knows how to tackle pressure.
Looking at his solid performances in the 2012 season, it is quite clear that he will go onto win some major events for his team in the future. He started off his career at Harold’s Cross, but has raced at other venues as well. A change in conditions has
never bothered him, which is a very good sign.
The M. Rice’s trained hound did a couple of solo runs at the start of his career. Both were of completely different nature, but that did not affect his performance and he clearly proved that he was ready for some real action.
Therefore, the brindle dog was sent in a couple of Grade A5 events, just to see how well he handles the pressure. He did not panic at all and stormed to successive victories with ease, despite not being the favourite on both occasions.
These performances encouraged his team to test him in a higher class. He was even more competitive in that event and raised the level of his performance, completing a hat-trick of victories at the start of his career.
Scarty Lad’s son out of Rathglass Girl kept on delivering some terrific results before he was sent in several Grade OR events. Although, he was expected to be a touch nervous in them, yet he made his team proud, completing yet another hat-trick in his career,
but this time at the highest level of greyhound racing.
There is a lot more to come from Rathglass Lad and he will definitely be a force to reckon with in the years to come.
