Doc misplaces forceps inside mom’s genitals

A doctor could face charges of medical malpractice for leaving behind a pair of forceps inside the vaginal canal of a patient who had given birth at a district hospital in South Cotabato province.

Radio dzBB reported Wednesday that the victim, Ms.J, 34, a resident in Surallah town, felt pain in her genitals after giving birth at the district hospital in Norala town.

When Aguerto went to the Provincial Hospital for checkup, doctors were shocked to find the forceps in her reproductive tract.

The victim's mother angrily returned the forceps to the District Hospital after it was recovered.

what happen to our qualified and brilliant doctors out there??? maybe they went abroad because the Philippine government is hopeless about wage increase and benefits. the hospital must banned of accepting patients and that doctor must not given authority again to perform his/her duty. must confiscate his/her license (if there is... but what kind of doctor is that?) so that s/he cannot practice his/her profession.

This is why instrument and sponge counts should always be done, but not every facility does this.

First off, if i were that woman, i would have kept the forceps.  It's evidence.

Next, the forceps being 'forgotten', it's a wonder she didn't have any serious injuries from them!
