ok, I am in a wonderful 3 story townhome with my son, my husband left us and we will be starting a divorce. The mortgage payment is 1800 a month. We are both on the mortgage but he is the one who is working. I am a homemaker. I would like to keep the house, how do I go about this with no job at this point and not the best credit? HELP?

  1. Get a good lawyer.

  2. You'll need to get a good lawyer and it may also help to get a job. You don't say much about the earning power of your son to be ex, so I don't know if you'll be getting enough (and for how long) from a settlement, so having your own source of income (which you'll eventually need anyway) will help your odds. Good luck.

  3. It is time for you yo get a resume together and seek botha job and an attorney. Maybe you can discuss the situation with your husband to see if he will make the mortgage payments in the short term. Maybe he has enough assets that you can work out a fair deal where you stay in the house.

    Good luck,

  4. Have your attorney make it a condition of the divorce decree, that your ex is responsible for the mortgage.

  5. You need a good lawyer immediately!  Start asking people you know for referrals so you can start calling them first thing Monday morning.

    Good luck.
