are we in danger of commentators giving too much emphasis on tyres, like ref.s drawing attention in football,it should be all about the riding, then again its new to me,and it could be that important.

  1. they go on about the tyres as it is important as in todays race the bridgestones kind of dominated whilst the michelins were struggling

  2. Wiggysan has answered it well.

Tyres have been an integral part of racing for the last 15- 20 years, there is always one that is better than the other, thus giving an advantage.

Even with just 1 (hypothectical thought) manufacture, there are still soft, medium and hard compounds, the hards have longevity where soft warm up and give better grip for 10 laps or so.

Does get annoying though, I prefer no commentary but then there are no engine sounds, cruel world!!

  3. Albert - wot you on about - IT IS all about the riding -

The commentator emphasis on tyres IS because

tyre choices are a major contribution not only to the

RIDERs personal style of riding - but the

type of track and temperatures -

Then of course you have the differences between

the Bridgestone and the Michelin -

As clearly emphasised by the commentary -

Also - as fans we want emphasis - its how we make

our judgements, predictions and conclusions -

    (be them wright or wrong)

I conclude, for instance - that Stoner's fall was

due to a sneeze at the wrong bend !!

Bllllllimmmey - You are new to it !!

  4. The tyres are a massive part of the riding these days.

Riders like Pedrosa-bot , Lorenzo , Edwards and JT52 are all multiple world champions. For these guys to be at the back of the grid picking up 1 and 2 points etc is just not right.

Yes, it was great to see the Suzuki's , Kwacks & Alice Team Ducati's doing so well, but they are all on Bridgstone.

There is still a debate as to if Casey rear was the fault of his crash. Some say he was pushing to hard, others say his foot peg dug in ( doubt that ).

So, yes, the  tyres really are a big deal at the moment.
