Reasons for this happening...?

what are other reasons why women's nipples/areola darken and veins pop out of their breast, besides birth control and pregnancy or are those the on two. because this is happening to me. i was on bc but stopped nearly a month ago (i only used for a month/it was giving me some problems so i stopped) and of me and my husband have been using the pull out method.

i read in a pregnancy book it helps the baby find the nipple. veins pop out because you have 50% more blood volume during pregnancy

Other than a spike in hormones, nothing would make your nipples and areola darken and veins pop out simultaneously !

Why are those hormones spiking?  Pregnancy, birth control usually doesn't have enough hormones in it but CAN do it especially in darker women, and any disease process that causes a spike in hormone levels.  

Diseases that could cause a spike in hormone levels are very rare.  It's highly unlikely you have a pituitary tumor or autoimmune disease that causes hormone spike.

I would guess you are pregnant.  ;)

Start a-testin!

However, on the very rare chance that if it later turns out that you are -not- pregnant and never were -- I would strongly suggest consulting with your doctor and getting your hormone levels checked -- and if they're too high finding out why.
