I Have Time Warner Cable With DVR And I Havent Used It Really I Know How To Record But Was Wondering

1.Can I Watch Another Channel While Recording Or Do I Have To Be On The Same Channel That Im Recording

2.If The Cable Box Or T.V. Is Off Will It Record
