Recycling in South Louisiana?

I am looking to see if I am alone. Are there any other people in South Louisiana that recycle? Is there a group I can join? If not I would like to start one. I know where to drop-off items, I would just like some support.

Try freecycle.org they have a group in many areas across the country where people post offers and wants for used items instead of you tossing them. Any and everything broke and beaten or new in the box. Often times others will take the items repair them, reuse them, recycle, use for scrap parts, etc.
