I am trying to give up red meat because it is really bad, as i am 10 lbs overweight because of it. I exercise but it does no good with the loads of red meat i eat. I have tried the veggie burgers & they tasted horrid. Any good ideas?

BTW i eat grilled chicken & fish but i need a red meat alternative.

  1. tofu and peanuts.

    yummy.

  2. -Boca burgers are quite tasty.

-Pork is good, as long as you buy lean cuts of it.

-Tofu, especially if you marinate and pan-fry or grill it.  Get the extra-firm kind, then marinate it in soy or teriyaki sauce (my favorite).

-Grilled portobello mushroom caps are also delicious.  Season them with a little salt and pepper, then cook.  They have a meaty texture and taste kinda beefy.

  3. Well, you could just replace red meat with other meat like poultry and fish, or you could try eating alternatives like gluten (I get mine at the Asian market). There are lots of kinds of veggie burgers btw, I like the black bean kind and my roommate likes Boca Burgers... I got him to like gluten too and he's not even vegetarian or on a diet!

  4. Animal products make people fat so if you want to drop weight try veganism. There's tons of vegan foods to eat.

  5. Juat eat less of it and try to remove all visible fat.. as the ADA suggests go for the "loins" - sirloin, strip loin, tenderloin etc.. Grill instead of frying..

if you insist on a vegetarian alternative, try  portobello mushrooms which when marinated like meat, grills and somewhat tastes like meat...they are evn shaped like a burger patty.. use root vegetables in chilis and stews as they almosthave the same texture as meat..

    Agree, fake meats are nasty

  6. Try Boca veggie burgers.  Make sure your pan is nice and hot so they get a little caramelization on them.

  7. boca products are good
