Reduce matrices to row echelon form?

Question

I'm starting a linear algebra/differential equations course and my class information page says that a scientific calculator is sufficient and it cautions that before buying a graphing calculator to make sure that "it is capable of evaluating determinants and can reduce matrices to row echelon form." I have my old TI-83 Plus from high school, but I don't know if fits the bill.

Does anyone know if the TI-83 will reduce matrices to row echelon form (and if so, how)?
