Refrigerator freezer shelves - paint?

Question

I have an old refrigerator and the freezer shelves have rust and mold in them. What kind of paint is on these? I'm assuming it's water resistant. I'd rather not spend the $60 GE is charging for replacements when I can just repaint. TIA.

If you wish to repaint your rusty refrigerature, first you will have to remove all the rust from the shelves, for that you will need scrap and sandoff, accompanied with metal primer, as it fully inactivates rust. I would highly recommend Rustoleum, as it is one of the best metal paint and it works relly good on metal.
