is there any law in the uk which says shops have the right to tell employee's partners to leave the store soley on the basis that they're in a relationship with someone that works there (the shopper actually buys things, not just looks at their partner)

  1. Think of it this way, if you lived in a house share, and you owned the place, and from past experience letting other house mates have their partners over resulted in the house getting trashed and you just didnt want to risk it.

Do you think you would have the legal right to stop them having people over.

Of course you would, its your house.

Its excatley the same for shop owners, its their land there building. If they don't want someone in their place they get rid.

(there are limitations to this, but none that are relevant in this case)

  2. Your right, better they fire you instead!

They have the right to refuse service (a limited right) and can ask someone to leave, or be charged with trespass

Why are they there? Obviously your boss thinks to see you, are they right?
