Religion and Politics?

I don't understand why people only vote for a Christian president because all that really matters in politics is economic and foreign policy. Worrying about the candidates stand on abortion and g*y rights only effects some Americans but foreign policy effect the whole world and economic policy effects all Americans. SO WHY DOES IT MATTER WHAT RELIGION THEY ARE? Isn't it more important for a candidate to have good economic and foreign policy over the fact of if they worship god or not? Just my little LOGICAL question of the day.

  1. I don't agree.  A person's view on religion defines their outlook on the world, and effects every aspect of every decision they make.

  2. You're expecting politics to be rational.

That's where you're making your mistake.
