  1. Failsworth. I live here, and it's great. It has it's not so nice but still nice area near Oldham Road but farther away from there is really nice. It is about a 15 minute bus ride from the city centre, depending on the part you live in. I love it.

  2. It is a big city where theres lots going on. For nice, young areas with character it's south of the city centre that you should look: Fallowfield, Withington, West Didsbury. Other than that there's the city centre apartments but theyre expensive with Castelfield being trendy area. Northern manchester is mostly boring. Don't bother with anything in eastern manchester (gorton, longsight) which is a dump, salford is also pretty dead.

  3. Um, I live in Stockport. Takes about 10 minutes on the train to Manchester Picadilly, trains are quite often and there are quite a few stations throughout the town. Depending on where you live, the bus takes 20-40 minutes and come about every 5 minutes.

I'm only 16 so I can't really comment on prices but I do hear a lot about people renting houses/flats round my area, which is a really good one. One of the good things about Stockport is that it does have almost everything Machester does, just on a smaller scale, obvs :P

EDIT- Yeah, I would agree to stick to South Manchester. Loads more going on, nicer area. Loads of parks, complexes, some really nice restaurants round Didsbury. The Curry Mile, yeah.

  4. Manchester is a great place, if you want to pay hideous amounts of money for a tiny terrace then go to south manchester. But don't listen to people who say Salford and north Manchester are bad!!  In North Manchester houses are bigger, more spacious and half the price, and it really isnt bad. Salford Quays is the new home of the BBC (mediacityUK) and house prices will rise.
