The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 coach is disappointed with the defeat at the hands of English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, but the boss has vowed to bounce back in the return leg
The Rhone giants were defeated in their opening leg of the Europa League tie thanks to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international score both goals directly from free-kicks and Lyon couldn’t do anything about that despite
playing well away from home.
Lyon coach, Remi Garde, was talking to reporters after the match and when asked about his side’s chances in Europe this season, the boss had many positive things to say. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player said that his side is still very
much in the tie and they have a home game to play. Lyon are confidence of bouncing back and has urged his players to stay positive despite the defeat.
"It's half-time in this tie. We played an away game against a side full of confidence and well placed in the Premier League, so the result we obtained was not nothing.”
The boss said that the Ligue 1 side has every chance of qualifying through the next round and last night’s result does not matter that much. If Lyon continue playing like they did against Spurs last night, they have more than a
chance to bounce back in the return leg.
“In spite of the defeat we still have every chance of qualifying for the next round. If we play with the same virtues we showed at White Hart Lane then maybe we will qualify.”
Garde added that the result cannot be declared as a good one but Lyon’s goal has made this tie very attractive.
“We can't talk of this as a good result but to score an away goal was important, and that was a splendid goal,” said the 46-year-old tactician after the game.
The boss said that the result is frustrating because Lyon played well but were undone by two brilliant goals by Gareth Bale.
”We're frustrated given that they didn't trouble us from open play but only through the talent of one player from two free-kicks."
