Does anyone own one of these rifles? What have you killed with it? I ask this because it seems like it would be a fine little gun for tight quarters brush hunting.

  1. Yes I've owned my Rem. 7600 in 30-06 for 7 yrs. now. Its a great gun. The pump action is extremely fast for follow up shots and is much more dependable than a semi-automatic rifle and is faster to load than a bolt action. Its is extremely accurate with a scope or with open sights, as I've taken deer and wild pigs both ways. The deer was a 250 yrd. shot with a scope and the pig was a running shot at 75 yrds. open sights. Both shots stopped them dead in their tracks. I would recomend this exact rifle to anyone who is wanting an all around rifle as it can abapt to alot of different hunting situations, depending on the caliber. I'de recomend the 30-06 due to its versatility and the wide range of ammo you can get for it.

  2. It's usually got a love or hate following.

Personally I don't like pump rifles --- just a pet peeve of mine. But quite a few people love them for just the reasons you mention.

I shouldered the semi version of the gun (basically the same thing). It's a little on the heavy side and the buttstock is long / awkward for me (I'm 5'9''). The sights are nice on it though.

It's just something I wouldn't buy but at the same time I would give a friend the thumbs up if he liked it.
