Removal of wisdom teeth. ?

Question

I have had several years of orthodontic treatment to straighten my teeth (which was successful)

I am now in my mid twenties and my wisdom teeth have come through. One of my front teeth is slightly further forward than the other. I can feel it moving slightly.

I am concerned that as I have a small jaw the wisdom teeth are pushing my front tooth out of alignment.

My dentist is willing to remove my wisdom teeth.

My orthodontist does not feel they should be removed as it won't make any difference.

My lower teeth started to move a few year's ago and I now have a wire fitted to the back of my teeth.

I am not sure what advice to take!

It's up to you, either way you're not doing any harm, whether you take them out or leave them in.

My mother is 60 and has had her wisdom teeth for a long time, they've even been growing in sideways, and she's still fine. after 40 years. Just make sure you don't forget to brush back there and keep good care of your gums and such in the back to avoid letting any food particles get down there and s***w up your teeth back there, (That's the Future-problems they're referring to)

I think you should just have them removed. Most people do because at one point or another in their lives, their wisdom teeth will cause them problems. Even though it may not seem absolutely necessary or a big issue right now, getting them removed now will prevent future complications. Besides, it's not that bad to get them out. Most people are afraid of the surgery and would rather wait to see if they really get problems with the wisdom teeth before they finally get it taken care of. But with my experience (I had 4 taken out two weeks ago), I can say this is one of the easiest procedures ever. It was actually less painful than a normal dental check-up to clean teeth ;) And it is better to have them out the younger you are. The surgery itself will cause more complications as you get older.

I say go with the orthodontist.

He knows more about straight teeth than a normal dentist would.

Wisdom teeth exert pressure from the back of the mouth that pushes against all your teeth, not individual ones, so it makes sense to me that they will not be an issue.

I am in a similar situation where i had braces as a kid and my fourth and final wisdom tooth is cutting through. I haven't noticed any change in my other teeth.

Take them out - they are not needed and serve no purpose - they will erupt and push the other teeth out of the way to get through and if they can't push them out of the way they will erupt sideways or into the mouth and cause even more problems

You should get them removed. If the teeth arent impacted it will be a simple procedure. I had mine removed in April and it is the best decision I ever made. My teeth moved a lot from waiting so long to get them out and they flared up pretty bad.
