I was born in Italy and I just turned 18 yesterday. I live in the U.s and am a legal citizen because I was born on a U.S military in Italy. How long do I have to renew my Italian citizenship?

  1. 1) Being born on a US military does NOT make you a US citizen. (having an American parent would help)

    2) Being born in Italy does not make you an Italian citizen. (Italian citizenship is by "right of blood" so unless you have an Italian relative in your direct lineage you are not Italian. And if you do have an Italian relative you still have to file the paperwork)

    3) If you are an Italian citizen you must inform the Italian consulate of you situation upon reaching your 18th birthday.

The questions remaining to be answered:

    1) Mothers citizenship?

    2) Fathers citizenship?

    3) Of Italian decent?

    4) How did you become a US citizen? see above (1 & 2)

    5) What paperwork was filed?
