Renewing passport in Canada?

If a person's passport has been expired since 5 years (which means he didnt bother to renew it), what is the procedure he has to follow in order to get it renewed? (so that he can travel)... Any information will be appreciated; thnks!!

  1. I read your statement as his passport expired 5 years ago?  If so, he can't use the new renewal process that requires a passport to be at most expired 1 year.

    So, you follow the old applications for passport process.  You can click on adult form to download it at this link.


  2. a passport which expired five years back cannot be renewed. please apply for a fresh passport.

    As of August 15, 2007, it is easier to renew your Canadian passport! Through the Simplified Passport Renewal Process, qualified applicants no longer need to submit documentary evidence of citizenship, supplementary identification or a guarantor declaration.

    The Simplified Passport Renewal Process is now open to Canadians who:

    currently hold a Canadian passport issued after January 31, 2002;

    were 16 years of age and over when they applied for their last passport;

    reside in Canada, and,

    were residing in Canada when they applied for their previous passport.
