I am going to be renting a car for a trip to cali. I don't own a car and have no insurance. Question is that will the $15-20 insurance I get from the car company be good or do you have to have your own policy like car owners have as far as being able to rent a car for a few days.. Thanks!

  1. I live in Georgia----No you don't have to have regular car insurance, just a valid driver's license and whatever means of payment. But its best to get full coverage when you rent so just in case something happens you wont have to come out of pocket for any money. Have fun on your trip!!!

  2. Since you have no insurance that would transfer to the rental, you should buy their (expensive) insurance with one exception.  Check to see if the credit card you will use for the rental will cover you for the collision Damage Waiver insurance (CDW).  If your card covers, no need to buy it again.
