Is it a good idea to rent a car (with or without a chauffer) to drive in Peru within the city and even inter city travel?

  1. It´s expensive and also it is worthless and very unsafe, because the way  the Peruvians drive is totally different than the US.

In a city u can use secure, call by phone cab companies, and between cities you can use buses, they are as good one´s as yours.

Without a chauffeur is very unsafe for a foreigner, specially because nobody respects international driving laws.

With a Chauffeur it´s going to cost you a lot of money.

  2. If you have never driven in Lima, beware!!! It is VERY difficult to drive in Lima, the traffic is a chaos and you wont enjoy tour stay due to the stress generated by driving! If you have the money, rent a car with a chauffer and he can take you places. It would be great if you could combine a driver/tourguide guy. Check the web page  gave you in my other answer (Lima tours) and see if they can provide one for you. I know they have drivers to take you to the airport, and that sort of things. even drivers you can rent for the day (for people who dont like to drive) But I really, really dont recommend you drive here.
